Cherokee Trail of Tears Bean

Cherokee Trail of Tears bean is a Native American variety rumored to have been carried along the Trail of Tears during the 1838-39 forced relocation of the Cherokee people from their native territory in the southeastern US. This pole-type variety produces heavy yields of shiny black beans that are traditionally used as a dry bean. The young pods are also suitable for use as a fresh snap bean. Cherokee Trail of Tears bean matures roughly 85 days after planting. A packet contains a minimum of 25 seeds.
