Elegant Light Salmon Clarkia (Mountain Garland)
Also known as Mountain Garland, Clarkia is a wildflower that is native to the Western parts of the United States. It was named after Captain William Clark, who along with Meriwether Lewis, led the famed Lewis and Clark expedition across the western United States in 1804-1806. Elegant Salmon Clarkia grows two to three feet tall, producing multibranched stems with salmon-colored flowers borne all along their axes. The beautiful double to semi-double flowers make excellent cut flowers with an extended vase life, especially if cut when the middle flowers are just about to open. Clarkia performs best in cooler climates and does not tolerate hot weather during flowering. We have, however, found that providing some shade during the hottest part of the day preserves floral development. Blooms spring to summer. Each packet contains a minimum of 250 seeds.
