Oregon Sugar Pod II is a heavy-bearing snow pea that produces crisp, tender, 4- to 5-inch pods on vigorous 2- to 3-foot vines that seem determined to outpace your harvest basket. A true edible podded pea, the Oregon Sugar Pea's sweet, juicy pods are broad, flat, and perfect for fresh eating, quick stir-fries, or garden snacking straight off the vine (a favorite pastime of our children). And with its natural resistance to pea mosaic virus and powdery mildew, Oregon Sugar Pod II stays healthy and productive long after other peas start to falter, so you'll be snacking on peas well into summer. Bred by the legendary Dr. James Baggett of Oregon State University and released in 1985, Oregon Sugar Pod II is the result of careful crosses involving Dwarf Grey Sugar, Wando, and Perfected Sugar—a pedigree of workhorse varieties refined into one outstanding pea. Originally developed as a freezer-friendly variety for commercial growers, it quickly earned a devoted following among home gardeners for
