Sierra Beauty Apple
USDA Certified Organic Sierra Beauty apple tree was discovered on the slopes of the Sierra Nevada mountains of California in the 1890's as a seedling apple tree, it was thought to be a remnant of the miner’s movements during the earlier days of the California Gold Rush. Gowans planted the Sierra Beauty apple in 1906 and have been growing it successfully ever since. When the Gowan family was contacted by researchers about the loss of this apple elsewhere, Gowans family gave scion wood to our nursery. Gowan’s orchards are now considered the ‘Mother Orchard’ for Sierra Beauty apple trees. Sierra Beauty apple is a large, handsome apple with thin green and yellow skin, striped or blushed red. Juicy, crisp, rich, tart, sprightly flavor. A good seller in farm markets and an excellent keeper. The tree has compact growth and self fertile making it popular for small gardens.
