USDA Certified Organic The Winterstein apple variety was selected from a cluster of Gravenstein apple seedlings by legendary Luther Burbank in 1898.  As the name suggests, the Winterstein apple tree is a late ripening Gravenstein type apple. The Winterstein apple tree produces a  similar flavor profile to the Gravestein with a crisp, tart/sweet snap when eaten out of hand. That said, it's a bit sweeter than the parent variety. The Winterstein apples are also credited for our excellent apple pie for Thanksgiving.  An attractive pink and red blossoms provide an additional bonus in spring.
