Ghost Products: What They Are and How to Fix Them

What Is a Ghost Product?

A ghost product is a product for which Reach Dog currently finds no mapped keyword match or buyer-language connection in the analysis.

That result describes the Reach Dog analysis. It does not prove that no buyer can reach the product anywhere on the web, and it does not mean the merchant described the product incorrectly.

The product title may accurately state what the item is while buyers describe the need, situation, or benefit in different words.

How to Review a Ghost

For each ghost product:

  1. Review the buyer phrases and questions connected to comparable product neighborhoods.
  2. Confirm that the product genuinely answers the need.
  3. Compare the buyer language with the current title and description.
  4. Decide whether a title, description, FAQ, or other content change would make the connection clearer.

Practical Title Guidance

Keep the product identity intact. Add buyer language only when it is accurate and useful.

For example, a title such as Merino Wool DK Yarn may already describe the product correctly. If the product is suitable for baby blankets and that use is supported by its properties, the merchant can consider adding that context to visible content without replacing the product’s actual name.

Reach Dog can suggest title fixes for ghost products. Review every suggestion against the real product before publishing it.
