About the art: I wanted to take a new approach to designing heart-themed apparel. We often see heart designs featuring the familiar symbol with its two curves and bottom point. It seeks to emphasize the feelings of love, adoration, and joy, without focusing on the ugly parts of relationships and life — the work it takes to make that love possible. With this jean, I showcase the raw image of an anatomical human heart over the storybook icon. It’s a machine responsible for keeping us alive and allowing us to feel a whole range of emotions, from joy and happiness to sadness and despair. It’s not always pretty, but it is beautiful.
