Pot Hole Floral Jean

About the art: We get so busy in life that we never take a moment to stop and see the beauty around us. We see a pothole in the road and our immediate reaction is to grumble about its existence. We don’t think about the natural phenomenon that causes them to exist, or the unique shape it creates. One day I was walking down Michigan Avenue and saw this beautiful floral display, and all I could think is how those off-kilter flower petals so closely resembled the shape of a pothole. I went on a mini mission to photograph four uniquely-shaped potholes, as well as grease stains and skid marks. I then traced those images and layered them to create the floral jean pattern you see in front of you.
